Released From Prison!

Today marks two weeks since I’ve gotten my braces removed.  Can you say THRILLED!?  I had braces for so long, I’d forgotten what it felt like not to have them. Crying shame.

Many of you may not know, but I…Candace T. Woods…at age 29 was an on/off thumb sucker since I was a baby.  Horrible, right?  I know.  Anyway, this was my second time having braces.  I’d first gotten them back in high school for about two years.  I had stopped sucking my thumb, gotten those braces slapped on and was on my way to a healthy, happy smile.. right here:

Then came freshman year of college.  I was in a shaky relationship, my confidence was low, it was finals time and I had partied all semester.  Talk about stressed.

Before I knew it, I was back at my old habit.  And through the years, I would stop and start again. I’d managed to hide it from some and not from others.  I would do it when I was depressed, mad, sleepy, irritated, deep in thought, tired, bored or in most cases without realizing I was actually doing it.

Now since I’ve gotten them off, it’s been about 2 weeks since I’ve stopped.  I know that’s not a lot of time, but it’s a start. They say it takes 30 days to turn something into a habit so let’s see where it gets me! I’m 100% sure if I can overcome this bad habit.. I can do anything!

I want you all to know and realize you have the power to overcome anything.  Nothing is too big.  Especially with the help of GOD.

Here are a few shots of me happy without braces! :)
