So, if you’re like me and some of my friends (heyyyy @vintageRoyaltii!), you’ve probably wondered what’s difference between leopard and cheetah print. Well, wonder no more! I’m here to set the record straight once and for all. Oh, and if you already know the difference, just keep reading for supportive purposes!
Let’s start with cheetah print:
Cheetahs have solid oval/round shaped black spots on them. The spots have no opening. If you ever have the pleasure of seeing a cheetah in person (be careful!), you’ll also notice the black ‘tear line’ that stretches from the bottom corners of the eye down to the mouth. Fierce!
Next, we have my favorite print to wear: Leopard!
They’re ferocious! Let’s just say if I were an animal, I would…..nevermind. Anyway, back to the topic. Leopards have black solid oval/round shaped spots too. They have clusters of black spots that encircle brown spots. These are called ‘rosettes’ because they resemble a rose. You will also notice that leopards have black solid oval/round shaped spots too which can make it hard to differentiate.
Jaguar
Much like the leopard, jaguar have rosettes all over the body but they’re usually larger and have small black spots that enclose the rosette. The jaguar always has larger rosettes but in smaller numbers. Jaguars also tend to have a larger body than leopards. Owww!
Think you can tell the difference now? Here are a few more images so you can be fully clear:
Let’s explore these prints on actual clothing:
Jenn in Jaguar..
Rachel Bilson in Cheetah..
Rih-Rih and Bey in Leopard..
So when your shopping buddy taps you and says, “Hey, is this leopard or cheetah? Girl, I can never tell.” You’ll be able to answer with confidence!!
Does this answer your questions? Got any other animal prints you want me to cover? Let me know!

I had no idea what print I was wearing. I just generally called everything leopard. Great article to enlighten my fashion senses. Now I will go leopard crazy.
